Bagheswari Temple of Bongaigaon DistrictBagheswari Temple is located on the top of in the middle of Bongaigaon town. This temple is one of the oldest and famous temple of Assam having its own importance. Beautiful Bageswari Temple of this town is proposed to be developed as afforested hillock with a garden and a small artificial lake fed by a perennial stream. This would improve the water catchments area of the town and the surrounding environment. The Bhageswari Hill houses acients Shiva temple inside a stone cave flanked either side by another 2 temples mainly temple of Bhageswari and Baba Tarak Nath. This is a temple of its own kind having a large number of visitors. Every year thousands of devotees visit to the Bhageswari temple and enjoy the beautiful hill location of the temple. According to Hindu mythology,This the great place where in ''Devi Durga's'' Trishul(weapon) fell down when her body was cut into pieces by God Vishnu,just after 'Dakhshya Yagya(ritual ceremony organised by Durga's father). Shakti Puja's",Worshiping of female deities headed by Bageswari, Kali-Thakurani, Moharani,Kalikarpat etc are also found in every nook and corner of this district.
