Most prominent actress of Assam Seema Biswas was born on 14 January 1965 in Nalbari of Assam. Jagdish and Meera Biswas are her parent. Seema was very much influenced from her mother who was professionaly a history teacher. After studying Political Science at Nalbari College Seema Biswas admitted the National School of Drama at New Delhi. Among this qualification Seema Biswas also joined the NSD Repertory Company after completing graduation in 1984.
One of her best acted hindi movie Kishan Kartha's Amshini which had got opportunity for the Indian Panorama Section of Filmotsav 1988. Famous director of Assam Shekhar Kapur offered her a role in Bandit Queen after watching her prominent acting in "Khubsurat Bahu" which was a play produced by NSD Repertory Company. Seema Biswas was acted in many Marathi films that are Bindhast, Dhyaas Parwa, and Lalbaug-Parel.
In 1996 Seema Biswas won the National Film Award for Best Actress. Some more deserving awards for Biswas are Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Best Actress Genie Award in 1996 and 2000 respectively. She also won the Star Screen Awards in 1996 for best supporting role for filk Khamoshi. Apart from these she was honoured with the Life Membership of International Film And Television Club of Asian Academy Of Film & Television.
