About Tezpur Town of Assam
Tezpur is a famous tourist site of Guwahati, capital of Assam whichi is 180 km from Guwahati. Average temperature of this place in Summer reach about 32.2 °C and in Winter it is about 10 °C. Average Rainfall of this superb site is upto 160 cms. Tezpur is located on the banks of Brahmaputra river, in Sonitpur district. Tezpur of Assam has very important place in history. On the north bank of Brahmaputra river , Tezpur is a city of awesome scenic beauty and quality archaeological structures. Basically Tezpur blinks with flourishing green valleys around the hills of Arunachal Pradesh, with peaks of Himalaya covered by snow, lavish tea plantation area and many superb archeological structures . It is referred as the headquarters of Sonitpur district and is considered as one of the most tourist destination of Assam. Tezpur provides excellent accommodation facilities for the tourists from all over the world.
Another site called Agnigarh preserves offers its beauty as the sweet memory for young lovers. Cole Park is one of the most tourist attraction in Tezpur. This park is the suit est place for romantic lovers enjoying a peaceful environment. It is also the place, where two impressively ornamented stone pillars and the sculptural always in wait for their tourist of Bamuni hill. An ancient temple, known as Mahabhairab Temple is the holy place where king Bana worshiped Mahabhairab, another incarnation of Lord Shiva.This is the perfect place for religious pilgrims.
The large tank preserves known as Hazara Varman can also be seen in Tezpur. It was an 19th century excavation. This is the third largest tank which covers an area of 70 acres.
Tourist can also observe a mammoth stone inscription built by the Ahom General Kalia Bhomora Phukan, who had planned to construct a bridge over Brahmaputra river. After two centuries from then, a bridge over Brahmaputra at the same place has now been constructed. The Bridge named after the great Ahom general which is about 3.05 km. Long and connect an another district named Nagaon with Tezpur was first opened for Traffic on 3rd April of 1987.

A Wildlife Sanctuary, famous Kaziranga Park covering an area of 72 sq. kms. is only 65 kms. to the west of Tezpur. Tourist can observe many species of animals including rhinoceros, buffalo, leopard, samber, barking deer, tiger, varieties of water birds, green pigeon, florican, teal, geese and wild elephant at this sanctuary.
