Jorhat is one of the attractive cities of Assam. This city is well-known for its tea plantation areas. Jorhat is the base of learning with only Agricultural University in the whole N.E.Region-Assam Agricultural University, founded in 1948 including the Engineering College, Regional Research Laboratory, Prince of Wales College of Polytechnic established on 1926, Tocklai Tea Research Centre established on 1911 along with other important establishment like Air Forece Base, ONGC, Oil etc.
