Ambubashi mela is one of the most important mela especially for the devotees of Kamakhya temple, Assam. Ambibashi mela is considered as
most popular festival of Assam
and have immense spiritual value. Though the mela is purely tantric cult and practice but it is a belief which draw thousands of devotees across the Country to visit this mela.
Features and attraction of Ambubashi mela at Kamakhya temple, Guwahati
During Ambubashi mela it is believed that Goddess Shakti is going through her menstrual cycle, thus the temple remains closed for three days. No auspicious works are done during these three days like worship or any other ritual activities.
After three days the doors of Kamakhya temple is opened the Goddess Shakti is is bathed to clean her and is again established by following all the religious customs.
