Life and Music of Tarali Sarma, Assamese singer
Assamese woman Tarali Sarma, singer from Guwahati, Assam won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer , 2004 for the Assamese film Akashitorar Kothare directed by Manju Borah. Tarali's father is noted flutist Prabhat Sarma who is also famous for his command over classical music and folk elements, a music director of several Assamese films. Prabhat sarma himself won the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
Tarali is not only famous for her sweet voice but also very versatile singer and music director in the Assamese film industry. She has composed music for films like Akashitorar Kothare, Laaz, Jatra the passage, and Abhijatri, and many more films.
