In 1969 Atul Medhi became the singer of Guwahati Kendra.In assamese films he started by singing for Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's directed song and Abdul Majid directed film "Bonhangsha"After that he sang for Pulak Gogoi's "Sadari" and "Saindoor"Some of the films where Atul Medhi directed songs are "Srimati Mahimamayi" and "Sadari","Morom Nadi","Gabaru Ghat","Patni".Some of the serials where Atul Medhi directed songs are "Kalratna","Junukar Barukhun","Aina","Bidhroh","Khanikar". In1982-83 Assam Shilpi Divas Samiti awarded Atul Medhi
