Jonas Mahalia produced and directed a film "Duranir Rang"(1979). Jonas Mahalia's third film was a boro film. In 2000, Jonas Mahalia directed a film "Jugantar Tezal Puwa" In 1993 Jonas Mahalia directed a serial "Pratighat" for the first time which was being telecast by Guwahati Doordarshan. .Some of the directed serials of Jonas Mahalia are "Anek Phoolar Surabhi","Kalratna","Surangar Majare","Dashami","Ghat –Pratighat","Jibon Jonak" etc. In 1997 Jonas Mahila directed a Dance-Singing Program "Harmoni Northeast".
