Baharul Islam's Biography

Baharul Islam (born in 1963) graduate from National School of Drama in Acting. He has acted almost 60 plays in differnt language - Assamese, Hindi and English.

In 1992-93 joined "TARA ART" of london as an Actor for the Production of the pllay HEER RANJHA. The play rehearsed in London and thereafter extensively toured UK and Japan perfoming 56 shows.

Designed and Directed many plays - "Urukha", "Yayati", "Saraighat", "Abhimoinnyu", "Jatra", "Simar Sipare", "Guwahati Guwahati", "Hoil", "Apeksha", "Court Marshal", "Moi premor pinjorat Bondi" etc. which has performed in different festivals including 'Bharat Rang Mahotsav', 'Nandikar', 'Sangeet Natak Academy', 'Prithvi', 'Nehru Centre', 'PDA festival' etc.

Designed and Directed a play in Kanada - "Modola Gitti" for 'NINASAM REPERTORY COMPANY' for the year 2003-04.

Designed and Directed Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" for National School of Drama Repertory Company, New Delhi in 2006.

Designed "OCTAVE 2006" - a festival on North East at Pragati Maiden, New Delhi 7th to 14th March 2006, organised by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.

Directed Anthon Chekhov's play "SEAGULL" for RANGAYANA Repertory Company, Mysore in July 2006.

Four Years experience in Mobile Theatre in Assam as an Actor-Director with different groups-'Bhagydevi', 'Kohinoor', 'Anirvaan' and 'Meghdoot'.

Recieved "SANKSKRITI SAMMAN" from EKA ABONG KOEKJON publication, Guwahati and "MONOHAR SINGH SMRITI AWARD" from NATIONAL SCOOL OF DRAMA APPROVED BY MINISTRY OF CULTURE, GOVT. OF INDIA for his contribution in Theater in 2005.
