The Bansbari Lodge is one of the most renowned lodges of Assam. It is a jungle accommodation owned by Assam Bengal Navigation right at the entrance of Manas National Park.
Where is The Bansbari Lodge
The Bansbari Lodge is located in Manas at a distance of 176 kms. away from capital city of Assam, Guwahati. The beautiful aspect of the location of The Bansbari Lodge is that it has beautiful lush green tea gardens on its one side and on the other side, there is jungle and views of the Eastern Himalayas foothills.
Accommodation at The Bansbari Lodge
There are 16 well spacious and well furnished twin bedded rooms in The Bansbari Lodge with attached bathrooms. Other than a double bed, the furniture present in the rooms of The Bansbari Lodge includes cane chairs, writing cum dressing table and a good hanging cupboard space. Both hot and cold water showers are present in the bathrooms of lodge.
The restaurant/ dining room of The Bansbari Lodge serve delicious North Indian cuisine, Chinese and Continental dishes in addition to Assamese cuisine. The Bansbari Lodge also has a lobby with comfortable sofas to relax in and a library with good collection of books.
Tribal dance performances of the local Bodo and tea tribes are arranged to The Bansbari Lodge at night round a camp fire. These dance performances showcase the age old stories of Assamese rural life.
The Bansbari Lodge also organize a walk through the villages of Bodo tribes where you can have a glimpse of rich culture of textile, handloom & music and the Bodo women weaving their traditional fabrics.

When to visit The Bansbari Lodge
The best time to visit Manas National Park/ The Bansbari Lodge is from October to April. However, the lodge is opened all the times. The weather at Manas National Park/ The Bansbari Lodge is hot with cooler nights.

You can reach The Bansbari Lodge by rail, road or air.
Air:
The nearest airport is at Guwahati which is 176 kms. away from The Bansbari Lodge. It takes 4 hours from Guwahati to The Bansbari Lodge by road. You can hire a taxi or a bus from there.
Rail:
The nearest railway station is at Barpeta road which is 20 kms. away from The Bansbari Lodge.
The Bansbari Lodge also arrange to pick up and drop their visitors from Guwahati airport/ railway station or Barpeta Road Station or Bongangaon Railway Station at prior information. The cost of this facility by non A.C. vehicle ranges from Rs. 2,500- Rs. 3.500.
Reservation at The Bansbari Lodge
If you also want to stay at The Bansbari Lodge and enjoy the pleasure of natural beauty, then you need to book a room in the lodge in advance. Such booking can be done through Assam Bengal Navigation's (ABN's) office by cheque, demand draft or major credit cards in Guwahati.
Visitors without prior reservation are not entertained in The Bansbari Lodge.
