AEDC Ltd. (AMTRON), A Govt. of Assam Undertaking, was incorporated in the year 1984 to accelerate the growth of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Assam. AMTRON had been promoted by the Government of Assam (GoA) for the development and promotion of electronics and IT industries and manufacture of electrical, electronics, telecommunication and allied equipment.
AEDC Ltd. is under the administrative control of the Department of Information Technology, Govt. of Assam, and functions as a quasi-IT directorate. AEDC Ltd. is mandated to act as a development agency for ICT in Assam and implementation of all IT related activities on behalf of the state. GoA has designated AEDC Ltd. as the Nodal IT Agency for implementing National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) in Assam.
