Nalbari College was established on July 4th in the year 1945 and is one of the oldest and largest colleges in Assam. It held much importance at that time being the only institution for the students to opt for higher education from Mangaldai till Bongaigaon. It was initially affiliated to the Calcutta University and later to the Guwahati University(in the year 1948). It is accredited by "National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NACC)" with B+ Grade. It is guided under the deficit system of grants provided by the State Government. It provides courses in Higher Secondary(in Arts and Science) as well as at Undergraduate Level(in Arts and Science). The Science stream was introduced in the year 1958. The main medium of instruction is Assamese with the provision of English as well. The academic session usually starts from July-August.
